Wikipedia, Heck Yeah! (Like Wikipedia, &!@*! Yeah, just without the smut)

According to this Wikipedia entry, "Standing on the beach" would be a participial phrase.

According to this Wikipedia entry, it's a participial clause.

And to think, 20 years ago I got out of sales because it was too hard.

So, as a teacher-librarian (my other hat), I have been staunchly anti-Wikipedia, but then my husband was telling me about research he was doing that said that errors get fixed within six minutes, on average. However, there's still too much room for collateral misinformation (from urbandictionary.com), "When someone alters a Wikipedia article to win a specific argument, anyone who reads the false article before the "error" is corrected suffers from collateral misinformation." Boo!

I'm anti-Wikipedia on principle. It's truth by committee.

But, for someone who's anti, it's amazing how I come to rely on it more and more every day.

The topics it covers are just so much broader than a traditional encyclopedia. And it's so much more up-to-date.

Considering the ridiculous premise of its existence, Wikipedia does an amazingly good job at providing information -- as long as you don't have to rely on that info 100%. (Which is also inherently ridiculous.)
