Bogus Usage Assertions (First in an occasional series on bogus usage rules some people assert)

Assertion:
You can't use "hopefully" to mean "I hope" or "it is hoped
that."

Example:
"Hopefully, I'll see you there."

Debunked:
hopefully
adv. 2 it is to be hoped that -- Webster's New World College Dictionary

This is a favorite part of your book.
I love your book.
I'm almost annoying people with the way I go on and on about your book.
You're a genius.
Your book is like a magic show that turns us into better English speakers.
Your book makes me gush a little.
I hope to participate a little here on your blog.
(hopefully I'll participate?)
