I get why people type "sneak peak" instead of "sneak peek." None of us are immune. (I, for one, make a ton of typos.)
What I don't get is why professional wordsmiths, like the writer and editor behind this AOL News link, haven't learned to double check the spelling before publishing it to a
professional site. It's like "lead" in place of "led" -- an issue proofreaders know to watch out for.

And why is it hyphenated? Because they don't care, that's why! Ugh.
I've been surprised to see a lot of clean copy on AOL News stories. (News merit, obviously, is another issue and one on which they don't fare so well.)
So in my mind, they had set a standard of caring. Maybe they figured out it's not cost effective to hire copy editors for stories that will be read by only the people who click on (not just Paris Hilton stories but) Paris Hilton pet stories.
Yup, we're in trouble.
